Rules and Regulations

REGISTRATION:

ALL ENTRIES MUST BE REGISTERED THROUGH OUR WEBSITE AND IN OUR SYSTEM 21 DAYS PRIOR TO THE EVENT. ALL ENTRY FEES MUST BE PAID IN FULL IN ORDER TO BE OFFICIALLY REGISTERED. YOU MAY REGISTER ONLINE THROUGH OUR WEBSITE AND PAYMENT IS ACCEPTED IN THE FORM OF CREDIT CARD, STUDIO CHECK, OR MONEY ORDER. NO PERSONAL CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED. YOU MUST BE REGISTERED THROUGH A STUDIO, NO INDEPENDENT ENTRIES WILL BE ALLOWED. THERE WILL BE A LATE FEE OF $15.00 PER ROUTINE AFTER THE DEADLINE DATE. ONCE AN ENTRY IS REGISTERED, CHANGES MUST BE MADE THROUGH THE STUDIOS ONLINE REGISTRATION SYSTEM BY A STUDIO REPRESENTATIVE BEFORE THE SCHEDULE IS COMPLETED. MOTION DANCE FORCE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO ADD COMPETITION DAYS AND OR MOVE THE COMPETITION OR LOCATION DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES. MDF RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CANCEL ANY EVENT THAT DOES NOT MEET THE MINIMUM ENTRY, BUT WILL REFUND ALL FEES IF A CANCELATION OCCURS.

ADMISSION TO THE EVENT IS FREE AND IS OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. DOORS WILL OPEN EXACTLY ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THE FIRST SCHEDULED ACT. NO FOOD OR DRINKS ARE ALLOWED IN THE PERFORMANCE AREA. PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED UNTIL THE AWARDS CEREMONY. PICTURES AND VIDEOS WILL BE SOLD AT THE EVENT. BREAKING THIS RULE WILL RESULT IN POINT DEDUCTION.

SCHEDULING:

SCHEDULES WILL BE SENT OUT VIA EMAIL AS WELL AS POSTED ON OUR WEBSITE ONE WEEK PRIOR TO THE EVENT. THIS SCHEDULE WILL INCLUDE THE TIME OF PERFORMANCE AS WELL AS THE ROUTINE NUMBER. WE ASK THAT YOU BE READY TO PERFORM AT LEAST 3O MINUTES BEFORE YOUR SCHEDULED TIME IN THE CASE THAT WE ARE RUNNING AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. PERFORMANCES MUST BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SCHEDULE. ANY CHANGES MUST PRE APPROVED BY MDF STAFF.

DUET/TRIOS

SMALL GROUPS ( 4-9 PERFORMERS)

LARGE GROUPS 9 10-19 PERFORMERS)

LINE (20 OR MORE PERFORMERS)

PRODUCTION ( 15 OR MORE PERFORMERS MIXED LEVELS)

AGE DIVISIONS WILL BE BASED ON THE AVERAGE AGE OF THE GROUP/ ROUTINE. AGE DEADLINE WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE AGE OF THE STUDENT AS OF JANUARY 1ST EACH YEAR. THESES CATEGORIES INCLUDE….. MINI (4 AND UNDER) PETITE ( 5 TO 8 ) JUNIOR ( 9 TO 11) TEEN (12 TO 14) SENIOR (15 TO 18)

PERFORMANCE LEVELS AND DIVISIONS:

WHEN CHOOSING A LEVEL, TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THE AMOUNT OF HOURS STUDENTS PRACTICE PER WEEK AND THE NUMBER OF YEARS OF COMPETITION EXPERIENCE.

MOMENTUM – THIS LEVEL WILL INCLUDE DANCER THAT ARE non competitive and take a maximum of 3 studio hours per week.

VELOCITY – THIS LEVEL WILL INCLUDE DANCERS WHO HAVE ZERO TO FOUR YEARS OF competition experience AND SPEND A MAX OF 6 HOURS PER WEEK IN THE STUDIO

POWER- FOR THE TOP LEVEL DANCER. DANCERS IN THIS DIVISION ARE VERY COMFORTABLE IN COMPETITION SETTING AND HAVE COMPETED FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND SPEND OVER SIX HOURS IN THE STUDIO PER WEEK.

CATEGORIES;

BALLET – CONTAINS CLASSICAL BALLET AS WELL AS PROPER TECHNIQUE

JAZZ – CONTAINS JAZZ TECHNIQUE

TAP – MUST BE PERFORMED WITH TAP SHOES

POINTE – CONTAINS POINTE TECHNIQUE PERFORMED ON POINTE SHOES

LYRICAL – MUST DISPLAY EMOTION AND EXPRESSIVE MOVEMENT

MODERN – ROUTINE MUST C ONSIST OF MODERN TECHNIQUE THAT INVOLVES INTERPRETIVE MOVEMENTS

CONTEMPORARY – COMBINES CLASSICAL BALLET, MODERN, AND LYRICAL STYLES OF DANCE

ACRO/GYMNASTICS – GYMNASTICS MOVEMENTS AS WELL AS DANCE TECHNIQUE. INCLUDES THINGS SUCH AS BACK HANDSPRINGS, AERIALS, AND OTHER TUMBLING PASSES.

NOVELTY – CAN INCLUDE ANY STYLE OF DANCE THAT IS THEMED OR PORTRAYS A CHARACTER.

MUSICAL THEATRE – CONTAIN ANY STYLE OF DANCE FROM BROADWAY TO MOVIES.

HIP – HOP /FUNK – STREET STYLE DANCE MOVES PERFORMED WITH HIP HOP MUSIC

OPEN – ANY STYLE AND OR COMBO OF DANCE STYLES CAN BE PERFORMED IN THIS CATEGORY.

LINE – 20 OR MORE PERFORMERS. ANY STYLE OF DANCE BUT AVERGE IN AGE.

PRODUCTION – 15 OR MORE DANCERS OF DIFFERENT AGES AND LEVELS

SPECIAL NEEDS DIVISION – ALLOWING STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS TO PERFORM DESPITE THEIR DISABILITIES.

A SOLOIST CAN COMPETE IN MULTIPLE LEVELS ONLY WITH DIFFERENT GENRE’S. DUETS/TRIOS ARE ALSO ALLOWED TO COMPETE IN MORE THAN ONE LEVEL. HOWEVER, THEY ARE REQUIRED TO COMPETE IN THE LEVEL OF THE MORE ADVANCED DANCER. FOR SMALL AND LARGE GROUPS, AS WELL AS LINES, THE ROUTINE CAN ONLY BE REGISTERED IN ONE LEVEL LOWER THAN THE MORE ADVANCED DANCER. EXAMPLE…. IF YOU HAVE ONE DANCER THAT IS POWER LEVEL (HIGHEST LEVEL) THIS ROUTINE CAN ONLY PERFORM IN VELOCITY LEVEL (INTERMEDIATE).

TIME LIMITS:

SOLOS ( 2:45) DUET/TRIOS (2:45) SMALL GROUP (3:00) LARGE GROUP (4:00) LINE (4:00)

PRODUCTION (6:00)   EXTENDED TIME MAY BE GRANTED FOR $3.00 PER DANCER

EXCEEDING TIME LIMIT WILL RESULT IN POINT DEDUCTION.

MUSIC NEEDS TO BE LABELED WITH NUMBER AND TITLE ON INDIVIDUAL CD’S OR FLASH DRIVE.

MUSIC MUST BE TURNED IN TO THE TABLE LOCATED TO THE LEFT OF THE JUDGES AT THE BEGINNING OF THE EVENT.

PROPS:

MUST BE APPROVED BY MDF STAFF PRIOR TO THE EVENT. THEY MUST BE BROUGHT BACK STAGE AND LABELED WITH STUDIO NAME AND SONG TITLE

YOU ARE GIVEN 30 SECONDS TO SET UP AND 30 SECONDS TO TAKE DOWN.

AWARDS:

Cash prizes will be awarded to top scoring routines per level

AWARDS WILL BE GIVEN IN FOUR DIFFERENT PLACES:

1ST - DYNAMIC PLATINUM 1ST (HIGHEST)

2ND - PLATINUM 

3RD - TOP GOLD

4TH - GOLD

JUDGING:

ROUTINES ARE JUDGED ON A 100 POINT SCALE FROM EACH JUDGE. POINTS INCLUDE

40 – TECHNIQUE

25 – SHOWMANSHIP

15 – CHOREOGRAPHY

20 – EXECUTION OF ROUTINE

SCORE SHEETS MAY BE PICKED UP AT THE FRONT TABLE AFTER AWARDS CEREMONY.
